Hi! I've set up NIS on my home network; both server and clients running Debian Lenny. I can successfully complete a graphical login from a client machine using one of the NIS user accounts on the server. One little problem...

My NIS users can't access a lot of the stuff on the client boxes because they don't have membership in any of the client box groups. For example, they can't get sound because they're not members of the audio group. I tried to add them to the groups in question, but the response from the terminal was that the users do not appear in /etc/passwd, which of course is true.

So: how do I go about adding my NIS users to the appropriate client-side groups so that they can access client-side services?
