lol! I love cold rooms, i would be more peeved about the noise from the servers more than anything!
Alright, so I had to move my desk at work again. This makes 4 times in the last 3 months. I was at my old seat only 2 weeks!
Of course, its better than my original seat which was in the server room. Nothing like having to wear your winter jacket all year long. I used to wear those isotoner gloves cause my hands would go numb from the cold.
AHh well, I suppose thare worse things..![]()

Heh, the white noise from the servers actually makes me sleepy too, so I am cold AND sleepy. Almost makes me feel like I am slipping into hypothermia.. I wonder if I can claim workers comp for that?
I am actually just glad to be back in my old chair. I am next to the technicians now, and not the salesmen like I used to be. None of the salesmen would ever get any of my jokes..
How well do noise canceling headphones work in a server room? Have any of you tried? I see many people using ear plugs but wondered how the headphones would work with the white noise.
I have a feeling server room noise isn't that white as the fans are usually to the rear of the servers making the noise more directional.
I have never been in a server room before, what sort of servers are we talking about?

The snotty high-class restaurant type, with the white towels over their arm and won't refill your water..
Hmm, peter, white noise to cancel out...white noise, either its either brilliant or..well you know :-P
I have never even tried ear plugs, usually I just put on headphones and crank the music, then when I take them off it seems downright quiet in the server room. Not sure if my perception changed or I just damaged my hearing for a short time
I know some guys that use them, but they are expensive about $100 and up to $300 at the top end. Some say they work well, but others say "so so". They don't cut out everything just most of the fan noise, and it seems to depend on where you are in the server filled room.
lol, nice jro!
I have a mate that has noise canceling ear buds, and they work really well when I tried them. Little scary actually

The problem with noise cancelling headphones is I am afraid that I might miss the phone ringing, which doesn't sound like much, but the owner calls me from time to time and if he can't reach me...bad things man, bad things..![]()
