Anyone looking forward to Avatar the movie?

Seen alot of clips and I can't help but get a bit excited to see this movie. I have heard it is going to be the most expensive movie ever made, if you factor in what James Cameron has put in out of his own pocket they are saying in the area of almost $350 million.

I remember when everyone was up in a tizzy about Terminator 2 costing over $100 million. That number seemed incomprehensible back in 1991.. Wow, it was a lot longer ago than I first realized, shoot..I am getting old

I have seen the previews, but it just looks like sci-fi Cowboys and Indians, with a Pocahontas love story and a little "Running Man" thrown in.

The special effects didn't look as clean as the most recent Star Wars episodes, but I'm sure the story line will be much, much better.

Christmas is an odd time to launch a blockbuster, no long summer holiday for teen to see it repeatedly.

    I'll wait and see.

I will probably be one of those geeks in line for the premier. I have been following the threads for this movie for the last year, so its going to be fun to see it culminate in what I hope will be a good movie. Lets just say it can't be much worse than Battlefield Earth, where I pined for a year and even waited in line when the movie came out...they almost had to put me on suicide watch after that movie..

I like sci-fi cowboys and indians, one of the reasons I like the Serenity series so much. Everyone that has previewed more than the clips say the CG is so seamless that you can't tell its CG. I will wait to judge that for myself. Story is paramount, I don't mind cartoons if they have a killer story (Princess Mononoke anyone?), so I can easily forgive less than pristine CG if the story has be captured.

I actually am undecided about this movie. I might see it if I have nothing to do, but otherwise waiting for dvd or net release (legal).

Aww c'mon guys! Nothing beats sitting in a cramped theatre, a 14 dollar bucket of greasy popcorn (free refill woo!), 2.5 gallons of soda and a loudmouth sitting behind you giving away all the good parts of the movie. I suppose if I had saved all my movie tickets I could have bought a half-decent LCD and watched them in the comfort of my home. Hmm, you guys might be on to something there....nawww...

Ehh, I am actually going to go to the theater and see it. IMHO watching an action flick on a 24 inch LCD can't hold a candle to watching it on a two story high def screen with digital sound...and they have good popcorn too

I'm thinking of going in a week or two after the crowds die down. Let me know what you think of it.
