    Question Diskless thin client network

    Hi everyone,

I am thinking to save money for my children centre by configuring a diskless network. A practical idea but the problem is how to do it. For a casual user like me it would be difficult but I am going to try and I'll need all the help I can get.

Starting with one Dual booting comp for the server with FC11/Windows 2k with 512 ram 40GB HDD, AMD athlon 2000+
for the client PII with 128mb RAM, Cd-rom

Now since my bios is not showing PXE/Lan boot, I presume it does not support it....
Hence the need to create a bootable cd........

So far ok but now I am in the dark........
I am not very clear on the basics of this but what I want is to do is to be able to use both the OS's from the server on the client..... is it possible......

    I do not know..??
I am hoping that this thread will develop also into a guide for others who are probing in the dark like me.....

    Question Diskless network stage 2

    Hi,

I made a boot cd burned with the image file from sourceforge
    http://nchc.dl.sourceforge.net/proje...d%2Bhd_540.zip
Now I can boot the client computer through this cd.

Step 2: I downloaded all the LTSP & TFTP packages and installed them.

Step 3/ Now ALL I have to do is to configure the Server.......... easier said than done for an ignorant chap like me...

I am still hoping to get some guidance from some enlightened chap out there

Thumbs up Stage 3: creation of the fedora diskless client

    What a break!!!

Just follow word to word of the LTSP guide from the link given below and you're there!!

    http://fedorahosted.org/k12linux/wiki/InstallGuide

The toughest part I had was to find the boot image for my NIC card!!

Meanwhile I am still looking for a way to dual boot the clients..... I don,t know if it is possible??
