    How does one go about backing up your public/private keys safely in Gnupg?

    Do i just need to put ~/.gnupg/* on floppy/cdr or is there more to it?

    I guess that's all you'd have to do. GPG stores all it's files in that dir.

    I wouldn't really know, though, I've never backed anything up before

    Copy secring.gpg and pubring.gpg from your ~/.gnupg directory. That's all. No need to zip up the whole directory.
