    Dial up Passwd?

I have a RH 7.2 box with an external modem that I use to dial into the server. I use SSH to dial into it but I want to make it more secure since I am useing a modem. Is there a way to set a dial up passwd along with the normal passwd for a user? Links or advice greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

    Re: Dial up Passwd?

    hello,
so you want to change it such that a user can establish a PPP connection and not need to connect as root - right?

you can try this with netconf or linuxconf and there should be options to alllow users to do this, else you can try to chnage some permisions on the ppp files and entries.

Well I already have it all set up with the connecting part but all I want to do is make it so the server promps for a dial up passwd when comeing in through the line. As of right now I can log in as a user through SSH and su root. OK how is this. In UNIX I do passwd -m sh. This prompts me for a passwd for the modem. I need to know how to do this for Linux. I hope that explains it a little better
