It should be OK. Are you using an on board SATA controller? Sometimes the BIOS default setting deactivates the SATA controller and the drive won't be detected.

I am using centos 4.
i want to install this in seagate 160GB Sata Harddisk. It shows like this error.
No hard drives are not found . I think its a drivers problem , where i can get drivers for this type of sata harddisk.

Yes , I already enabled sata controller in the Bios settings. but it wont detect.
Have you tried installing with the noprobe option? I've sometimes found that autodetect at boot time doesn't work.
Here's a thread in the forum that talks about SATA problems with older versions of Fedora. It may apply to CentOS as well.
Are you sure the drive is good? Does the latest Fedora or Windows detect it?
