    RAID migration

As I've been using computers, I keep getting more and more paranoid about data integrity. I'd like to move my existing setup to a RAID array. I have a 120G drive and a 250G drive. I'd like to move them to a 500G RAID 1 array.
I have two questions: anyone have a SATA controller recommendation for one that saves metadata on the drives so if the controller dies, I don't lose my array? I'm not sure if most support that or not, my RAID experience is purely in the server world.
