    VM keystrokes counted multiple times

I am running Fedora 8 as a guest on virtualbox (http://www.virtualbox.org) on a winXP host, and I've been having this problem where sometimes my keyboard presses get counted multiple times, for example I'll type in cd and get cdddd (very annoying when typing in passwords). I'm thinking it may have something to do with interrupt handling, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas (I tried asking on their forums and got nothing). I have tried booting with nohz=off, dis/enabling VTx, dis/enalbing ACPI, dis/enabling IO APIC, and some other things. Any thoughts?

Do other VM softwares have this issue?

Such as XEN, KVM, or VMWare?

My gut feeling is system strain. I would check out VMWare Server and see if a VM under that runs oddly. If so, I would say either your HD is not keeping up, or not enough RAM/CPU to handle the load.

Then again, I had no trouble running VMWare on an old P233MMX and 96MB RAM This was also 2001 ... but alas ... bad memories of the phone co. gig

This is actually my work laptop (hence the mandatory windows), so Xen is out of the question. I don't know about VMware, I haven't tried it, but it looks not free, also I really like some of the features of VirtualBox (the shared folder, shared clipboard). The machine is plenty powerful for virtualization, so I don't think it's a resource issue:
    CPU: Intel Core 2 T7200 @ 2.00GHz
    Memory: 2GB
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon X1300, 512MB

I give the VM 1024MB and 32MB of video memory (which may be shared)
