Well, the whole MySpace type of features is somewhat appealing.
FYI vBulletin is about to release version 3.7
Here are some of the new features:
- Easier SPAM management
- Thread tagging
- Thread title prefixes. A member can select from a list to categorize the type of thread using words like "Important", "Question"
- Private messages can be made public, as part of your profile. Like MySpace.
- Social networking buddy / contact lists
- The ability for community members to create their own social/interest groups with a page for comments, like MySpace.
We'll probably have no choice but to upgrade to keep up vBulletin support. For simplicity, I'll keep whatever default settings this version has for the new features.
Which of these features do you think would be interesting?
Well, the whole MySpace type of features is somewhat appealing.
Just out of curiosity, why did you choose vBulletin out of all the possible options?
Just liked it? Went with the flow? Security? Features?
No criticism, just curious.
The forums used phpBB for some time, but the 2.x versions don't handle bulk email to more than 1000 users very well. A number of forums also merged into OpenFree and only vBulletin had a reliable import utility. vBulletin also has better standard security features that reduced the amount of bot SPAM significantly.
