Doesnt XCDroast have an option for keeping the permissions and such? I know for a fact that it can retain the full paths and owners and such.
I have a program that runs on Linux. The program obviously is set to be an executable. How can I burn this file to a CD that it retains the executable status? Basically, I want to run it from the CD without having to copy it to the hard drive first.

Hmmm. It looks like if I disable Anonymus Rock Ridge, it should preserve permissions. Thanks, I'll give that a try.Doesnt XCDroast have an option for keeping the permissions and such? I know for a fact that it can retain the full paths and owners and such.
let me know if that does the trick. When I get home I am gonna be wiping a drive and installing SuSE server on it. I am gonna need something to do while I am watching the bars move back and forthIf you cant figure it out, I can give it shot then.
another suse user!
Well, disabling Anonymus Rock Ridge did the trick for me. The only catch is that you have to add the exec parameter to the cdrom in your fstab file:
Which really sucks, because it makes it rather complicated, if not impossible to distribute an executable on a CD-ROM.Code:/dev/hdc /cdrom iso9660 defaults, user, noauto,ro,exec 0 0
