    Help with a command?

Trying to remember for the life of me what the command is that will search for all the stuff installed and tell you.

I specifically want to be able to find out which version of some libs that are installed. I have lib names but..

I know this one is easy so please help me out.

well locate is very useful. if it is in a package and you know the package name it should pretty easy with your package manager.

Locate does use a file database, but isn't reserved for just databases.
