Hi
I am running MRTG 2.12.1 under RH Linux 9. It works well for all my servers but I recieve the following error when I try to make a configurations file for Lucent's MAX TnT Remote Access Server.
--base: Get Device Info on vincent@202.61.56.7:
SNMP Error:

SNMPWALK Problem for 1.3.6.1.2.1.1 on vincent@202.61.56.7::::::v4only
at ./cfgmaker line 857
WARNING: Skipping vincent@202.61.56.7: as no info could be retrieved
--base: Writing etc/mrtg/7ras.cfg
ERROR: creating etc/mrtg/7ras.cfg: No such file or directory
I don't have such problem with other RASes or devices.
Can anybody help me in this ????????????????????
With the caveat that I haven't done MRTG or SNMP in quite some timefrom what you've described and the info provided it appears that the device is not responding at all.
Could be:
SNMP config on device lacking or incorrect
community string incorrect
address of device incorrect
The walk error seems to be a red-herring as you haven't gotten that far yet.
Thought of another possibility -- since it's a remote access server, it could be a security setting in the server denying access -- Not familiar with Lucent's stuff....sorry....
Hope this helps a bit
cheers
