I am running MRTG 2.12.1 under RH Linux 9. It works well for all my servers but I recieve the following error when I try to make a configurations file for Lucent's MAX TnT Remote Access Server.
--base: Get Device Info on firstname.lastname@example.org:
no response received
SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "184.108.40.206" [220.127.116.11].161)

PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes
at /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 627
SNMPWALK Problem for 18.104.22.168.2.1.1 on email@example.com::::::v4only
at ./cfgmaker line 857
WARNING: Skipping firstname.lastname@example.org: as no info could be retrieved
--base: Writing etc/mrtg/7ras.cfg
ERROR: creating etc/mrtg/7ras.cfg: No such file or directory
I don't have such problem with other RASes or devices.
Can anybody help me in this ????????????????????
With the caveat that I haven't done MRTG or SNMP in quite some time from what you've described and the info provided it appears that the device is not responding at all.
SNMP config on device lacking or incorrect
community string incorrect
address of device incorrect
The walk error seems to be a red-herring as you haven't gotten that far yet.
Thought of another possibility -- since it's a remote access server, it could be a security setting in the server denying access -- Not familiar with Lucent's stuff....sorry....
Hope this helps a bit
