Does your choice of Desktop (we'll keep it simple and say KDE or Gnome) effect what software will run on your machine?
In other words, am I correct in understanding that if I see software for one of the Desktops, something like KDE-Calculator that that won't run on a Gnome desktop?
If software isn't compatible between the two desktops, then isn't it really like two different OS's?
If software is compatible, then why call it KDE....?
Sorry, I know this is uber-basic, but hopefully this will be a nice lob for someone to answer. Thanks in advance!
