Moving a server to another part of network and still keeping it as a server

Help! My boss wants me to move one of the servers on the company network to the

place where another computer on the network is. I have no idea about networks or

hardware. All I know is making webpages. The diagram of the network looks very

complicated. Just how am I going to do this without killing the internet connection or

removing everyones LAN connection? Do I just put one cable in one of the hubs in the

place of where the other cable is in yet another hub?

If your network diagram looks very complicated, it probably is. You need Network Admin to do this job. Without understanding fairly basic of how networks are, you might be asking for trouble.

My best reccomendation is to try this out during off hours.

Move the server to the room and plug it in. Test the services that this supposedly offers. It it all works, then the network autoconfigured it correctly or the static configuration is location agnostic.

If not, put it back and get a pro to do it (as aforementioned).
