What is your Linux Distro ?
This will be over soon, and then I can ...
Have you checked inside your box to see if the USB port is actually wired to the motherboard? It happens!!
Try a port on the back side of your box if you have been trying only the ones on the front side.
Whn I insert my Flash Drive into a port it shows up on my dexktop. At that point one must then create a mount point for the FD.
Use: mkdir /mnt/flash for example
Then before using the FD edit /etc/fstab like this:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/flash vfat user,noauto,noatime 0 0 Note: sda1 is a pseudo drive usually used for the 1st one /mnt/flush is from above.
You will then be able to use df -a to see your FD. Use -a that shows your /proc related info too.
hello,
i make sure gnome-volume-manager is running, else i find the device (cdrecord -scanbus) and the mount it - e.g. mount -t auto /dev/sdX1 /mnt/flash
