Make a Linux Switch (challenge!)

Hi,

I have two dsl modems and want half of the computers in my house to use each one. Instead of buying a commercial switch is it possible to configure a linux box with several network cards as a switch? I would prefer to use Suse, but I could install another distro if it is necessary.

Detailed instructions would be very much appreciated.
