    Apache newbie help

I installed Ubuntu LAMP distro a few weeks ago and I can point my browser to my Apache server default web page (which reads "It works!") and that's all fine and good.

As a newbie I want to just host a simple webpage of my own design on my local home network. Nothing more than some text and a couple images. Where do I start?

    Thanks,
    JJJ

If it is just for home and behind a firewall with no access from outside you can just throw your web page index.html file in /var/www/html (which should be the server root directory). That should work well enough for a start.
