If I were you, I wouldn't use xmms. I would use Amarok for audio and Kaffeine for video.

hi abdul,
u didn't specify the linux u r using i.e, redhat, fedora, or suse etc.. Mplayer is best for video and xmms for audio works well in linux but u have to see that the required rpm files have to be downloaded and installed.
