I've been playing with the 120 day evaluation pack in a VMware sandbox, and it looks pretty much like Server 2003 with a kinder, gentler face. Before you install an evaluation version on real hardware, though, be aware of one fact. (I called Microsoft's marketing support, and verified this.) Microsoft has NO PLANS to allow evaluation copies of Windows Home Server to be converted to licensed copies. THE ONLY WAY TO GET A LICENSED COPY OF WHS IS TO BUY A SERVER WITH WHS INSTALLED! This means that, when your evaluation or beta expires, you COULD be left with a large paperweight. The weenie that I spoke to was very vague about exactly what would happen when the evaluation period ended. I, for one, am not ready to risk having to reload a system from scratch if WHS does stop working, so my home server will continue to be based on OpenSuSE.
