    the computer instantly hangs up

    hi! i just wanna ask why my computer hangs up?it does not hang up that often but i get so annoyed when it does especially when i am doing something. i am using a windows xp sp 2. does the operating system can have an effect on why my computer hangs up? i don't know why. i just wanna solve this so that it will not and never hang up in the future.

    Does it hang up while doing a certain task? Same time of day? When it hangs up, can you "ctrl-alt-del" and get to the task manager to see if something is running the CPU at 100%? Does the hard drive seem to be going nutz?
