I have configured the Suse 10.2 linux workstation have set the required network params. The server is able to ping the boardcast, but not to any other server outside. Any thoughts woul be appreciated.

I'm not sure what "server is able to ping the boardcast" means. Howwever, my first impression would be that your gateway might not be set correctly. You might want to look into that.

As trickster said, verify that you have the default gateway setup correctly, and the DNS information in there.

check if your firewall is enable run
yast2
and disable your firewall and then try
