I have an USB stick (1G) formatted in msdos, because of some lazyness I play MP3's and view webpages saved inside from the USB stick instead of moving them to the hard disk.
I have noticed that when I do this the program I use to view the webpages on the stick creates a links.core file (using links), and when I play MP3 a mp3blaster.core file (using mp3blaster) is created too.
I am using FreeBSD6.1 I just assume it would be the same in Linux, anyone knows what this .core files are?
A core file is usually a memory dump of a crashed process (ie. your mp3 program), have a look at the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_file that can explain more...
