When you say "everything is centralized", what do you mean? It can mean many things.

    1. Centralized authentication for user logins would require something like LDAP or NIS.
    2. Centralized DNS, would require using DNS bind.
    3. Centralized Linux file sharing would require NFS.
    4. Centralized use of a Linux server for Windows XP / Vista file shares and logins would require Linux Samba.
    5. Centralized online web based documentation could mean the use of a Wiki.

Which one do you want to start with? Let us know and we'll point you to the right resources and provide advice.

    ok try this.

Set up one Linux box (with internet access) with samba and a dhcp server.
Samba is for the file share and the dhcp server is for internet access.

ofcorse this is an ultra simple explination of what you need to do but it should get you on the right track.

and yes the xp box shouldhave no problem accessing the internet and a samba.

    XWindows

You may also want to look at Cygwin/X, if I've read your post correctly.
