What soundcard is it?
Do you get any errors on /var/log/messages?
Do you have your spears on and the volume turned up?
What is the exact error message that gives out the 8?

the sound card is intel latest with the laptop. do not know the exact name. i donot know wat is spears. and volume is rite. it asks to look in the file /root/scsound.log. also asks to look in some site named bugzilla
Can you post the contents of the file /root/scsound.log?
Also, can you post the output of the command?Code:/sbin/lspci

I'd say you should comment out this line from the /etc/modprobe.conf, and reboot and see if it works:
