Ok, calling on our users to give me ideas of what else you would like to see on this board. We are working on growing the board and would like to get some feedback.

What type if things do you think should be in this section? Tips on how to use the forums? I like the idea and would like a little more input on exactly what you think should be included.

Hi RickDev

I think the newbie forum should be a stepping stone to posting in the main forums and therefore new members be encouraged / invited to post here first as way of introduction.Its amazing how many posters feel important and welcomed by a reply.as their first post introduces them it is important someone takes an interest and replies.I will help out on this one.
Secondly new posters need an arena where they can be free to ask and express themselves and be exempt from critisism for not searching beforehand.Searching forums by its nature can be overwhelming for a newbie.if the experience is not enjoyable they will hesitate to return.

By way of ideas how about the following:

1.tips for using fourms for beginners
2.Essential free software (always gets an interest..make this a sticky)
3.Useful websites-buying hardware
4.Software reviews/hardware reviews
5.newbie guides (how to`s)
6.new user....need help?..(run parallel to 5 above)
6.General info/breaking news
7.ranking/reward for posting system...different catagories the more posts you have..ie Gold
member,silver member,etc??
8.have a link to refer this website to a friend (?? is that possible ??)


Thought id get 10 but just too tired now .....will sleep on it

I would like to thank you for the wonderful ideas and I will start working on something this week. I think all of your ideas are great and I think I had a few in my mind but just have not sat down to do it. Now I am modivated to do just that.

I also work at a small company and have been trying to do some "tip of the weeks" that I think I will do here as well. Thanks again and keep looking out for the changes.

Not worth a new topic, but maybe you should change the Longhorn forum to Vista.

If I can think of anything else worth posting, I'll be sure to let you know.
