Don't waste your money on firewall! Windows XP comes with an embedded firewall, which works extremely well. Activate it in control panel>security center. This will save you a lot of hard earned money!

Although I agree that XP firewall works well, I personally have full hardware firewall that I use.

Purchased firewalls are better for server usage (i.e Genny's case), but I don't run a server so I use the free firewall

Well I don't run a commercial server, the server this site is running on is hosted remotely. I still have a couple of servers at home but for own usage. Still hardware firewall is the best way but not all want the hassle of it.

since i have dell they offered mcafee firewall so i said, sure why not. if i had known XP had a firewall i'd have used that. Hey is it good to have a two different firewalls runnign at the same time?

No it's not, read the second topic I made in the security forum. The firewalls will contradict each other.
