I have a question about using Windows Service Pack 2 CD. In case I need to reinstall Windows XP OS, can I use the Service Pack 2 CD after reinstalling XP to update or do I have to download Service Pack 1 and all the other updates from Windows Update?

I realize that there will be some recent updates that I will have to download.
    Thanks.

No, you do NOT need Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed before using Service Pack 2.

Service Pack 2 includes all updates prior to its creation (Including SP1). So just go ahead and install it and get back to us if anything is wrong and we will help you to sort it out

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I hoped that was the case. I thought that most updates were cumulative but I don't take anything for granted. I ask.

    Thanks again.

There are some updates that have come out since SP2 so you will have to install them. They are things like the February Updates, .NET Framework 1.1 & 1.1 Fix and the MSN 6.2 update.

These should be fairly small downloads so don't worry too much about them
