I wonder if anyone can help.
My daughter is an art student and she has to write a report from time to time. The problem that we have is when she tries to insert a picture
on to her word document the picture disappearss on preview and on the document.

If she clicks the area where the picture is she gets an outline of the picture but no picture.

We have tried to tick & untick picture placeholdings but no joy.

Word is 2002 version and I have loaded it on to an older PC and insert pictures are ok and can be viewed on the document and on preview.

Both machines are running XP and I have checked the option settings
on the old pc with the newer pc and they are exactly the same ?

Does any one have any ideas cos I could sure use some.

My daughter needs to use the new PC as it has scanner , camera ,software and printers ect

have you tried bringing the picture to the front?
if you see the picture outline, then its propbably there, sometime,s its inserted behind all the words.

to bring the picture to the front,
    goto view> toolbars> drawing
once you have the drawing toolbar (it should be at the bottom)
click on the rightmost button (Draw) then goto to order>bring to front

    hope this helps ^.^

    Thanks for the quick response.

in answer to your questions the picture format is jpeg and the picture is not hiding behind text because it is the picture that is put on first before the text.

Also the method is select insert / picture/ fo;der/ then double click the pick
