SAVING MESSAGES DURING RE-FORMATTING

I need to re-format my hard drive and want to retain the messages that are in my various outlook folders. I know how to export the address and re-import later. Any advice on how to retain the messages?

i didnt' know that outlook losees all files after a reformat, is there anyway i can get these files back??
