There are 2 versions of Winamp: The free one, and Winamp Pro, i think it is callled. All you have to do is go www.winamp.com and download it, simple as that. I use the free version only because i dont want to waste money on 2 extra* features.

I'd stick with the already available WMP.
I like windows media player. The one that came with ME was version 7 or 8 and I liked that one the best. I upgraded at one time and didnt like it. Currently, I have 9 on my XP machine and can't remember why I didn't like it.
I like windows media because it comes with windows, and real does cost money, and never worked on any of my computes.

Functionality has been the same since a very long time for WMP, playing multimedia files, that is. There can't be much more than that to it. Besides there are so many codecs that none can be implemented into WMP. There were some security issues as well as performance increases, which i can see.
