    Linux Certification

    Hello,

The next week I will be taking some Linux courses (thanks to my boss) I was wondering what the Linux Comunity think about certifications?

Well, all the things that I know is by reading manuals, forums, howtos, and yes I know ... If I were not so *lazy* probably I would be a better Linux User :P

    This is the course:

BTW, Someone knows if the Red Hat courses allow to the people take the LPI?

    Cheers,

Well, from what I've seen, the people that have come through here that obtained the RHCE became very successful. I only hold a CompTIA Linux+ cert, but it definatly helped set myself apart from the people that say they use Linux, but only used the KDE end of it. In other words, it actually helped employers know that I knew Linux, and didn't just say that I did.

    What do you mean?

Of course, you can take any cert exam you wanted. Whether it's RHCE or LPI Level 1 and 2 .

But if you mean by if you take RHCE course and you will be able to pass LPI exam, then it depends on your level of knowledge with Linux. LPI focus on general Linux than RHCE. RHCE is (of course) Red Hat centric. So for example, if RHCE course teaches you to configure network interface using Red Hat's GUI, then it may not apply to LPI cert exam. A friend of mine has LPI one and he thought I should take it.

    But I'm too *lazy*.

In a few years, I plan to enter IT (just so that I can see if my fancy will feed my stomach) area so I should also start taking those exams. I'm going to start with Network+ though.

Oh yeah, plus, if your company pay for it, any course is a good course. Every little paper helps when looking for a job.
