    DVD copy software

Any DVD copy software ( OSS of course) available for Win XP ? A friend of mine needs it so that he can make backup copy of his DVDs that he bought (his Cars movie was broken only 2 days after he bought it after lending it to his friend's boy).

So before I go out and buy dvdcopy for it. I like to sneak in as much OSS as possible on his box.

    TIA

You could always use transcode, mplex, and cdrdao on Windows, but that's going a little overboard to stay with OSS. All that I see are rippers that are free, and not really any ripper/burners.

Try DVD Shrink. It's free, runs on Windows and copies DVDs to an ISO on your hard disk. It is capable of removing "features" to make the size of the ISO smaller, such as; removing subtitles, removing foreign language sound tracks, high def, copy protection etc. You can then burn the DVD ISO using standard software.

I will check it out. This guy was looking for pure dvd to dvd writing. If complicated, he will get lost (and I"m in no mode to answer questions on the phone for a long time). The last time I installed a firewall, he called me everytime the popup comes up asking him either to allow or disallow.

yes. It can bypass the copy protection... I've tested with the latest movies and it works.
