    help me in using select option in driver

    dear all
    i am misbah, i have a small problem and need your help in this regard :

    i am new to device driver i have implemended a character driver in which i need to implimend select system call so that process can read or write data only when possibility is there for it when number of files are opened .

    please tell me the functions used in driver code and why

    please tell me the application code as well to access this entry point .

    I doubt anyone on this forum has kernel programming experience.
    You might want to head out to http://kernelnewbies.org/ and start reading up stuff there.

    Also, you are basically asking people to do stuff for you, not to help you. You might consider showing what you have done and what you still have problems with instead...

    FC5 is not booting to GUI mode

    in my laptop i had installed redhat 9 kernal version 2.4.8-20 which was ok with me but recently i upgraded it with FC5 but i an facing a prblem with it it does not boot into the gui mode and reflect a message error in mouse instalation and ask to select for different configuration of mouse first of all i dont know what is the touch pad mouse called in several options provided. if giving the wrong options it comes to the command prompt

    it gives some techinical faut reated with tty i am not able to understand it

    help me if you have faced a similar problem before and rectified it

    I am involved in kernel programming, but like trickster say, your first request has nothing to do with your last request, which to me sounds alot more like a missconfiguration of some options, than anything related to device driver development.
    For your first request, kernelnewbies will be the place to start, eventho it sounds like a rather big step for a newbie what you are trying to achieve there..
