Hi ,
I tried the way described in PET but failed to install it.
Here is my whole problem :
I want to install my modem driver on FC5 and it needs kernel headers.
It prompts that it cannot find autoconf.h in /lib/modules and when I try to install kernel source because my FC5 kernel is 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 and the kernel is 2.6.15.1 it says that it cannot find the directory /lib/modules/2.6.15.1.
i tried to append the rest of the dir name on the menuconfig but failed.
Is it OK to rename the dir 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 to 2.6.15.1 ?
Thanks for your help.

hello,
um - no - please don't rename the directory
have a looky here for more specific kernel stuff ->
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...html#kernelsrc
BTW - if you have run yum update lately then odds are good that you have a kernel newer than 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 installed.
one more thing - have you simply tried
yum install kernel-devel ?

Hi,
Thanks for all your help
As in another thread I have mentioned I don't have a high speed internet and cannot run yum to update from internet.
I will try the new link and tell you the result.

What type of modem is it? You might give a pre-built winmodem installer a try. You won't have to recompile your kernel, and only patch it, and restart into the patched kernel. Of course, that's if your modem is supported....
