DSP chip programming under linux (sharc??)

I've decided to learn about programming dsp chips and i would like to do so using linux as my dev platform (derrr....). I'm looking at the Sharc chip's but the only dev tools i can find are for windows. Anyone have any recommendations? Suggestions for another chip would be fine, as long as they are suitable for audio work.

Your looking to get into cell phones or some other devices? I have done some reading on real-time chips but thats about as far as I have taken it.
