    mounting

i have worked out how to mount drives to a choosen directory

how do i view a list of drives which are avalable for mounting or if this is not possible how do i know what the mount command is for say my cd drive, my new hard drive or a flash drive that i attatch to a usb port?

also how do i make mounted drives appear in computer (the windows that would be my computer under windows)

As root, fdisk -l will report available drives to mount. Depending on which window manager you use, there may already be something similar to "My Computer", like the Gnome file browser, which gives a list of drives that are mounted.
