Shell Script is messed up from opening in Kwrite?

After reading your links, Emacs appears a little bit overkill for my current knowledge level. Hell, I have a hard enought time getting a simple shell script to work correctly half of the time... Maybe if I get into programming one day, after I finish my degree (25 years from now) then I will get into it, and try to take advantage of it's features...

Just read the Gnu Emacs Manual, it's a fun read on a quiet night
But basicaly, what the wikipedia shows of commands is enough to get started, all that LISP scripting and such, isn't what you want to dive into at first.
If you want to, just treat it as a simple text editor to begin with, it's just the fact that theres all these Meta commands, instead of point and click. It's the same if you wanna go the vim way.

Honestly, for shell editing I am perfectly happy to use Pico or Nano. But I am a simpleton.

Ah, good old Pico . I'm not sure where to find it but I used to use it when I had pine installed or early days of DOS. I know, I like Pico but I just like VIM better the same way I prefer ELM over Mutt. Oh well ...
