Root password recovery in Linux

Hi , I have a big problem now!
I have forgotten my root password on Linux(FC3) and I cannot install any more packages
Can anyone help me to recover my password???

I went to Google and got this as the first result.

If you need to reset root this is the easiest way:

->Reboot.
->At grub prompt edit the pameters to include at the end "linux 1" (no quotes here or henceforth)
->after it boots up, change password with the command "passwd"

But I have a question, does reseting root delete all data in the root folder?

You are not resetting root, just the password. The files should be safe.
