Well, here I am again with possibly another foolish question, well, here goes; I have 6 machines, 5 with XP, 1, (mine), with Debian. (Love it, BTW!), all connected to a gigabit switch, in turn piped into a firewall/router connected to the satellite modem.. I installed samba with swat, and have experimented with the samba.conf file quite a bit & I think I almost have it, but not quite. From any of the 6 machines, I can access the internet without a hitch. I can also see all the machines connected from any of them. File & print sharing among the XP machines without a hitch & they can all see mine, but not access the shared files. However, on mine, I can see all their files & can swap stuff back & forth. The problem is, I want to be able to access the shared files on mine, as well as my fast laser printer from the XP machines. I have pasted the contents of samba.conf below. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong. BTW, this is my last major hurdle. I have all my peripherals working with Debian now, my ATI PCI-E graphics card, Audigy 2 sound card, nForce 4 SLI motherboard, and integrated gigabit port, an HP Laserjet III and Epson R320 printers, Canon LiDE 30 scanner, Canon ZR50MC camcorder, and a Kodak LS443 camera. (Phew)! All work absolutely flawlessly. Most of these are now working because of help I received here! Thanks guys, esp. Trickster & Compunuts!
Here is samba.conf:

Maybe not entirely what you're looking for, but have you tried Ubuntu's "Shared Folders" admin tool? It's under System->Administration, and it works really well for file sharing between my Apple laptop and my Ubuntu desktop.
EDIT: Sorry, you're using Debian. I missed that (mixed Debian/Ubuntu forum). Not sure if this tool is available for Debbie.
