Question Wireless NIC seems to require restart

    Hi all

Trying to share my internet connection with my folks who are installed in the granny flat.

I do this via a wireless ad-hoc (peer-peer) network using NAT & IP forwarding via the wireless NIC.

I seem to be able to get it up and running but it seems that when my Dad shuts down his windoze machine and then restarts it later, for some reason I have to restart my wireless NIC (ifdown wlan0; ifup wlan0).

I think the same thing happens if there is some connection interruption for a period of time as well, which happens occasionally because we're pushing the wireless distance a bit, I think.

Any suggestions why if I have to "restart" the wireless interface?

    thanks
    James

Looks like there is some negotiation issues between your NIC and the Win box.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware / software driver for the Windows NIC?

You could also get a WAP and connect it to a free Ethernet port on your Linux system, and then run the NAT. More expensive though.
