well, not sure what is happening here.. setup apache, etc.. and dyndns etc ..
all my friends can access the webserver at http://twaern.is-a-geek.org just fine. but when i go to the address via my other windows xp machines on the same network as the ubuntu server i get a server not found.
http://127.0.0.1; brings a server not found
http://localhost; brings a server not found
http://twaern.is-a-geek.org; brings a server not found
when i do a http://192.168.2.10 brings up the apache server.
the 192.168.2.10 is the internal ip of the ubuntu server.
This both needs to be used only on the same box. For example, you have Apache running on WinXP box. YOu type in those addresses on the XP box to access it.Originally Posted by twaern

Your network is fine. All you need to do is setup external DNS server address in XP box.when i do a http://192.168.2.10 brings up the apache server.
the 192.168.2.10 is the internal ip of the ubuntu server.
