Its pricey pretty much everywhere, even in the US. Maybe not for the mommoth corporations, but for small to medium businesses its prohibitive.
I voted for Oracle thou not GPLed but I like the software a lot .... (packages,functions and triggers) ... but most of all I love PL/SQL.
Got no problem with support plus with a large community of users where you can exchange and get help with.
And btw its very pricey especially if your living in a third world country!

Exactly. It's the function vs cost.
I know for a fact that AS400 beats anything anyone else offer, be it informatica, Oracle or Sybase. But then again, the price is really really high.
Its nice that Oracle released 10g Express, you get an Oracle DB to mess with with out having to pay for it or give up 6 gigs of disk space. I think its a great move for them to provide a means for people to practice with their stuff with out having to laydown for a license. I know it was meant for alot of other applications, probably meant to compete with MSDE, but thats what I have been using it for.
