I recommend to Install (at least) RedHat 9.0 over your installation of RedHat 7.3, I think that RedHat 7.3 is not mature enough, and I faced with lots of error messages when I tryed to recompile its 2.4.18-3 kernel source which was a real frustration to me, but after upgrading to RH9 I success in recompiling. NOW I am using RHEL 4 WS, but I did not try to recompile it yet, so I do not have any information about it.
