I thought this forum is for Linux NEWS and NOT for advertising either that is using Linux or otherwise .... :-/

K-OS is using LINUX for its entire system. We tought we were helping the linux community.

I agree with Compunuts. This was a little too blatant. Free expression is welcome, but it should be in the appropriate area, and unfortunately we don't have one for this type of thing yet. If there is a need, we may have to create a separate ad forum for this sort of promotion.

cykosys, I'd like to know what you think.

That being said, Linux can only be promoted if people talk about it, so maybe what we could consider is a policy in which people who are directly involved with a project state so and post it in a separate ad forum, and people who have no affiliation just post it in the regular areas.

That way everyone knows what to expect.

Dude, don't get me wrong, I LOVE seeing Linux taking over the whole world ..... but but .....

yours is commercial entity and should act in such a way. Just because TiVo uses Linux to run its DVR doens't mean they can come in and get free advertising. Just because Google runs its search system on Linux clusters, they can't get free advertising.

I apploude your company for using Linux. But with yearly subscription service and all that commercial string attached, it's considered advertising.

When you release KOS as OpenSource and put it under GPL, you are welcome to post it here for all of us to see. I'd even encourage you to do so. Until then, please, no commercial advertisings.
