Question Virtual Hosts/Sites in VS-ftpd!

    Hello!

I have created two sites in vsftpd.I want both of them to reside on one IP-address and to ftp them by name.I don't how to do it .

All the solution that i am getting are with multiple IP-addresses.I found one option in:

    vsftpd.conf.5 file
    Its link is:
    ftp://vsftpd.beasts.org/users/cevans/untar/vsftpd-2.0.4/

The option is "pasv_addr_resolve".I am getting errors if i use this option. Can anyone suggest me something?.Looking forward for your replies.

As far as I know, FTP protocol itself DOES NOT support name-based virtual hosting (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). You can only use IP based virtual hosting in terms of running one daemon with multiple config file.

    Smile Thank u!

    Hello!

Thank u for your reply . May be the word name based access is making confusion here.Actually i want to access a site which is hosted on my system.I want to access it by name and not by ip-address.It is possible in wu-ftpd, but i have to use vsftpd.

Just can't find out what to do exactly.

Put this one in your client box.

Edit file, /etc/hosts (using either GUI based gedit or CLI vim) and put the following after the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" line.
192.168.0.1 your-name.your-domain your-name
where replace the above IP with your real ip.

    HTH ...
