    Linux Network with 4 PC

    Guys,

    need your help and suggestions.

I am still very new in linux, and my friend ask me to help set-up their office PC with linux.

    there are 2x P4 pc, 1x P1 pc and 1x P4 Laptop.

We want to use 1 of the P4 as a file server. and the rest should share files to each other.

I had configured the Server PC already with Suse 9.3, and it is running fine, but they cant use the floppy drive, and also the CD writer. Sound, Printer and Network is already OK. I had configured it also as an NFS and NIS Server, but not yet tested.

my question before we proceed with the installation of Linux on the other computers is:

    1) how to configure the Server to share Printer, and Files.
    2) how to configure the server that a windows based PC can access the shared files and Printers.
    3) what to configure so that the CD writer and Floppy drive will work, is there any patch needed?

any other suggestions are very much welcome.

    Thanks,

    Scarab

I had manage to install the printer and Samba server on the Server PC(Linux)

the other PC(windows) can now print using the Printer on the Linux Box and also windows can see the shared directory of the Linux PC.

add this to your /etc/fstab (if the line doesnt exist):

    /dev/fd0¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* /mnt/floppy¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬* ¬*auto¬* ¬* noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0

i assummed your mount point is /mnt/floppy and which it already exist. then, reboot.

and to access your floppy drive, as an ordinary user, type:

    mount /mnt/floppy
