This organization was created on May 1, 1999, taking over the running of the counter from Harald Tveit Alvestrand, who has been running the project since 1993.

I'm not really sure. I only really have one Linux desktop and a lot of Linux servers although the majority of servers we use are BSD.

idol tika vern.
by the way, id like to ask how were you able to know so much about linux and BSD..i really love linux the only thing is I have only one PC..
i have lots of e-books but somehow the progress of my capabilities of acquiring lots of knowledge about linus is hampered by the fact that I have only one PC and im obliged to use one distro at a time..
id like to ask if you studied by yerself or you were taught at school?
digitalsuperman ... lol. I am far from an expert some people think I am. I just like the community and the future I see in the community. I'm a user like everyone else.
As far as learning goes, I had a lot of good mentors and people who encouraged me. I was surrounded by Linux administrators in my early teens. I didn't fully get into Linux and open source until quite recently. For the most part it's been self study although now I go to school with a lab solely for experimenting. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals goes a long way in learning.
