Welcome Ubuntuvirgin
I'm completely new to Linux, having recently installed it on my son's pc, as a rebellion against Windows! I will not be held ransome without putting up a big fight! Once I get my head round it on my son's pc, then I would like to install it on my own.(currently Ubuntu fiesty fawn)
A bit of background, I wouldn't call myself a geek in any shape or form, but over the years I have managed to find my way around windows,so have got pretty comfortable with it. And so far I am pretty pleased with my progress in understanding Ubuntu.. but...
Currently I have two burning issues to sort, and my lack of basic general computer knowledge is preventing me from understanding how to fix it. I need things spelt out in words of one syllable!!! Do I ask specific questions here or under another thread?

Hi, I've been coding real-time C for a long time, and I'm beginning the effort of writing a secure PHP-MySQL customer-issue website. What I'd like to find is an existing website code that I can take as a baseline and make mods thereto sufficient to meet my requirements. The assignment has all the earmarks of re-inventing ... what was it? Oh yeah ... the Wheel. Cheers, JN25B
