Well, the chmod +s on pppd (to allow a regular user to run ppp-go) didn't work. No big deal. It isn't too much of a hassle to open a terminal and su -.
I saw this OMP when I first started, but it must have been written for a distro that doesn't do things quite the same as Slack... I downloaded wvdial, as per the OMP, but found that I didn't need it, since I could just use pppsetup. Maybe pppsetup does all of the steps in the OMP for you (which is why I though this OMP was worthless to me, as I wasn't having to do this from scratch). In any case, everthing is good now, and I am pleasantly surprised. My dial up connection here at work is just as fast as using Windows (with Earthlink Accelerator). Sweet! Of course, I would much rather be at home on my cable connection, but I just don't have that luxury at work...
